Core ideas of the module
This is a 3rd year/MSc-level general AI module aimed at giving students the opportunity to explore more advanced topics in autonomous agents. Its main goal is to develop a basic understanding of the problems and techniques of building intelligent agents, give an appreciation of the trade-offs inherent in the design of agent-based systems, and illustrate these through a project involving the construction of simple agent-based systems. Throughout the term we explore topics ranging from general cognitive architectures to natural language agents, and attempt to illustrate them in practical labs.
